SOS Children's Villages Jordan has signed a cooperation agreement with the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development & Training to establish a care center for individuals with special needs beyond the age of 18, specifically for young girls who have lost parental care. The Princess Taghrid Institute for Development & Training will provide psychological, social, academic, health, and career support, as well as create a safe environment, as part of the official agreement between the two parties. The project will be implemented under the patronage of the Ministry of Social Development.
The agreement was signed by Mrs. Rana AlZoubi, the National Director of the Association, and Dr. Aghadir Jwaihan, the Director of Princess Taghrid Institute for Development & Training. The agreement allows SOS Children's Villages to execute the project at Aqaba Children's Village, providing a designated space for sports activities. Princess Taghrid Institute will manage the site and deliver programs aimed at enhancing the beneficiaries' skills through training, qualification, necessary care, and health supervision.
Mrs. AlZoubi stressed the significance of the strategic partnership with the Princess Taghrid Institution for providing aftercare to young women without parental care. This support is crucial for this vulnerable group, ensuring a safe and secure future for them after leaving SOS Children's Villages, while enhancing their capabilities to become active members of society. This objective aligns with the core goals of SOS Children's Villages, which they aim to achieve through their care programs.
Dr. Aghadir Jwaihan highlighted the immense importance of this humanitarian initiative, especially for this segment of our girls who are in dire need of security and stability. As they cannot integrate into society without lifelong specialized care, this project will be a permanent home for them. The program will train them in traditional crafts based on their abilities, allowing them to create beautiful products that give them a sense of productivity. The initiative will empower them with life skills, self-development, and dignified living.
It is worth noting that SOS Children's Villages Jordan is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1983. It provides care for children and youth who lost parental care and those deprived of family support across its three villages in Amman, Irbid, and Aqaba. The association offers comprehensive care covering various aspects including food, shelter, education, healthcare, psychological support, empowerment, economic security, protection, and community integration.
Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training was established to address the issue of aftercare for children who lost parental care beyond the age of eighteen from various social institutions. These young individuals are transitioned into local communities for coexistence and creating a dignified future. The foundation's vision centers around producing responsible, productive, and globally-aware citizens from the less fortunate segments, providing them with a dignified life and contributing to society through creative, high-quality products.
