Live-in Female Caregiver

SOS Children’s Villages Jordan is seeking to hire a Live-in Female Caregiver to support the primary caregiver (the “mother”) in providing a stable and safe family environment for children and youth within alternative care. The “aunt” plays a key role in supporting children through daily care, participating in household routines, and taking on caregiving responsibilities during the mother’s absence, all in line with the organization’s values and child safeguarding standards.


Job Objective:

To support the mother or primary caregiver in providing a value-based, nurturing family environment that ensures the growth and development of children and youth in alternative care. The “aunt” helps meet the children’s daily needs, provides a safe and stable environment, and substitutes for the mother during leave periods while fully adhering to SOS Children’s Villages’ child safeguarding policies and values.


Key Stakeholders:

  • Children under care

  • Biological family (where applicable)

  • Mothers / caregivers

  • Program Director / Family Care Coordinator

  • Multidisciplinary team (social workers, psychologists, activity coordinator, local education and youth coordinators)

  • External parties (authorities, schools, healthcare providers, NGOs)

  • National office teams (safeguarding, HR)


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Supporting Primary Caregivers:

  • Collaborate daily with the mother to provide integrated child care.

  • Take over caregiving responsibilities during annual or sick leave, with full-time residency in the family home.

  • Assist during challenging times and support daily household tasks.

Contributing to Child Development:

  • Understand each child’s individual background and provide emotional, physical, and social support.

  • Help implement each child’s individual development plan.

Role Modeling and Value Sharing:

  • Act as a positive role model and trusted adult.

  • Share values, life skills, and personal experiences to support children's behavioral growth and decision-making.

Fostering a Supportive Family Environment:

  • Adapt to each family’s uniqueness within SOS Children’s Villages and maintain consistent care routines.

  • Ensure a safe and supportive home focused on the child’s best interest and aligned with SOS values.

Flexibility and Adaptability:

  • Be able to move between multiple homes within the village and support more than one family if needed.

  • Quickly adjust to different family routines and build positive relationships with children and staff.

Program Participation:

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to implement care plans.

  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and participate in regular evaluations.

Child Safeguarding Commitment:

  • Fully commit to child safeguarding policies and immediately report any violations or concerns.

  • Prevent and respond effectively to any form of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

General Tasks:

  • Support administrative tasks and home maintenance when needed.

  • Perform duties with responsibility, professionalism, and compassion.

  • Safeguard SOS property and resources.

  • Carry out any additional tasks as requested by the direct supervisor.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma (additional training in child care or education is a plus).

  • Previous experience working with children or in a care environment.

  • Strong empathy, patience, and reliability.

  • Ability to adapt to diverse family environments.

  • Good communication skills in Arabic (English is an advantage).

  • Commitment to the values and principles of SOS Children’s Villages.
