Public Security and SOS Children's Villages Jordan have signed a memorandum of understanding to implement security strategies and plans. This collaboration aims to foster cooperation between the two parties in order to contribute to awareness programs combating extremism and negative behaviors in society, thus promoting social cohesion. The goal is to educate this segment of society, develop their skills and abilities, and harness them. The signing took place in the presence of the Assistant Director of the Public Securtiy Directorate for Administration and Logistic Support, Brigadier General Dr. Mu'tasim Abu Shtal, the National Director of SOS Children's Villages Jordan, Mrs. Rana Al-Zu'bi, and several high-ranking officers from the Directorate.
Brigadier General Abu Shtal stated that the Public Security Directorate is committed to achieving comprehensive security through its comprehensive strategy and advanced plans, which necessitate collaborative and cooperative relationships with all official and non-governmental institutions. By rallying support from all segments of society, the Public Security Directorate, as the law enforcement authority, aims to fulfill its mission and combat various negative social phenomena, including violence and ideological extremism, while building empowered generations capable of development and construction.
Assistant Director for Administration and Logistic Support, Brigadier General Abu Shtal, added that the experience of the Community Peace Center succeeded through partnerships with various institutions in raising awareness among different segments about the responsible role of preserving society's security and peace. He emphasized the dissemination of awareness and reaching all segments of society to create an environment that rejects extremist ideologies. This approach is one of the ways employed to solve societal issues, requiring collaboration and joint efforts to address these challenges and problems.
Brigadier General Abu Shtal further clarified that this memorandum of understanding was established between the Community Peace Center and the SOS Children's Villages Jordan to deepen collaboration in implementing projects that enhance the community's role and resilience against extremist ideas and various criminal phenomena. The goal is to solidify positive practices, cultivate national affiliations, and adopt creative ideas through multiple avenues such as dialogues and training workshops. These efforts aim to achieve community peace and create a society free from violence and hatred.
On her part, Mrs. Rana Al-Zu'bi, the National Director of SOS Children's Villages Jordan, expressed that collaborative work with the Public Security Directorate, particularly through specialized units, will fortify children in the village across various aspects, including family, social, intellectual, and psychological realms. She added that partnering with the Community Peace Center will contribute to fortifying youth against the dangers of deviance and extremism. It will promote concepts of dialogue, moderation, tolerance, and accepting others. This partnership will also address anything that affects societal security, both in terms of ideas and behavior.
Al-Zu'bi expressed her pride in the humanitarian initiatives and substantial efforts undertaken by the Public Security Directorate in various fields, its constant dedication to providing opportunities for everyone to participate in achieving goals that serve the community and the nation. She appreciated the role of the Community Peace Center in achieving community peace and combating extremism by unifying efforts and collaborating with all societal institutions and local organizations to spread concepts of dialogue, tolerance, and moderation, ultimately striving for national security, a goal pursued by all.
The memorandum of understanding includes preparing numerous awareness programs and activities for SOS Children's Villages, the Leadership Program for children and youth in the village, and conducting dialogue sessions with village staff to exchange experiences, design, and implement joint projects and activities aimed at protecting children, youth, and the community from the spread of non-moderate ideas.
