Mama Suhair: Introducing Community Houses

My name is Suhair Jawarneh, and I serve as a mother to a group of children in Aqaba Children's Village. I have dedicated 21 years of my life to this role. I joined the village when I was 29 years old, and over the years, I have witnessed eight children graduate from my care.

Some have gone on to marry, while others continue their educational journeys. Currently, I am responsible for three children under the age of 14, providing them with the nurturing care and love they need.

I am delighted to share that we have introduced an innovative concept in SOS Children's Villages Jordan known as "Community Houses." These houses exist outside the village, where we reside instead of the traditional village houses. This concept ensures that the children do not feel any distinction in their lives compared to others. They have the opportunity to build friendships and develop relationships with neighbors in their immediate surroundings. Then, when they reach the age of 14, they transition to youth houses, where they continue their growth and development. Our aim is to see them mature into productive young individuals within society, God willing.

I pray that God blesses and guides these children throughout their lives, and I am grateful for the privilege of providing them with the love and care they deserve.
