Who we are
SOS Children's Villages Jordan is a national non-profit organization established in 1983 to provide alternative care for children and youth who lack parental care or are at risk of losing it.
What distinguishes our care model is providing integrated care for children and youth, by covering all their needs including care, accommodation, education and skills, protection and social inclusion, food security, physical health, livelihood, and social and emotional wellbeing. The Association is guided by the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care for Children and the Convention on the Rights of the Child issued by the United Nations. The Association also aligns its efforts with the principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, where the goals of the United Nations for sustainable development come within the focus of the Association's work and strategy.
About the Position
SOS Amman Children’s Village is looking for a Children & Youth Development Specialist to strengthen developmental programming and individualized support provided to children and adolescents in the Village.
The Specialist will play a key role in ensuring that Individual Development Plans (IDPs) are meaningful, regularly reviewed and translated into practical interventions and opportunities for each child and young person.
The position combines direct work with children and youth, individual development planning, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, reporting and program quality improvement across SOS Amman Village.
The successful candidate will work closely with children, youth, caregivers, social workers, Youth House teams and other program staff to ensure that children's and young people's strengths, needs, interests and aspirations are reflected in the programs and services provided by the Village.
Key Responsibilities
1. Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
-
Coordinate and support the development, implementation and regular review of Individual Development Plans for children and youth.

Ensure that IDPs are individualized, age-appropriate, strengths-based and focused on measurable developmental outcomes.
-
Work directly with children and youth to identify their strengths, interests, needs, aspirations and personal goals.
-
Support children and youth to actively participate in setting and reviewing their own goals.
-
Work with relevant staff to translate identified needs into practical interventions, activities and opportunities.
-
Monitor progress against individual goals and ensure that plans are updated based on progress, challenges or changes in circumstances.
-
Identify developmental gaps and recommend appropriate interventions or referrals.
-
Support staff in improving the quality and consistency of IDP documentation.
2. Children & Youth Development :Develop and facilitate structured activities that support children and adolescents in areas including:

Life and independent living skills.
-
Personal development and self-confidence.
-
Communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Decision-making and problem-solving.
-
Emotional and social development.
-
Leadership and teamwork.
-
Education and career planning.
-
Career exploration and employability skills for older youth.
-
Creativity, recreation and community engagement.
-
The Specialist will work directly with children and youth, particularly adolescents in the Youth Houses, and facilitate regular individual and group-based developmental activities.
3. Youth Participation
-
Promote meaningful participation of children and youth in decisions affecting their lives.
-
Support youth committees, youth-led activities and leadership initiatives.
-
Facilitate youth consultations and feedback sessions.
-
Ensure that youth perspectives inform program planning and development.
-
Encourage young people to take ownership of appropriate activities and initiatives.
4. Program Development and Implementation
-
Develop activity plans based on identified developmental needs.
-
Support the implementation of the Village's annual Children & Youth Development Plan.
-
Identify opportunities, partnerships and resources that can enhance developmental opportunities for children and youth.
-
Review existing activities and recommend improvements based on youth needs and feedback.
-
Ensure activities are age-appropriate, inclusive, participatory and aligned with SOS standards.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation & Program Quality : The Specialist will have responsibility for coordinating Monitoring, Evaluation and Program Quality across SOS Amman Village, while maintaining particular focus on children and youth development.
Responsibilities include:

Develop and maintain appropriate M&E tools and systems for Village programs.

Support program teams in developing clear objectives, indicators, targets and monitoring plans.
-
Track implementation and progress against annual, quarterly and project plans.
-
Collect, consolidate and analyze program data across the Village.
-
Monitor program outputs and outcomes.
-
Maintain relevant M&E databases and dashboards.
-
Ensure the quality, accuracy and timely submission of program data.
-
Prepare regular M&E reports and management updates for the Village Director.
-
Identify trends, gaps, challenges and areas requiring corrective action.
-
Support teams in using data and evidence to improve program design and implementation.
-
Conduct or coordinate program reviews, assessments and evaluations as required.
-
Support the development and monitoring of program indicators and targets.
-
Ensure that monitoring findings are documented and followed by appropriate actions.
-
Contribute to National Office and organizational reporting requirements.
-
Promote a culture of evidence-based decision-making, learning and continuous improvement within the Village.
6. Staff Support & Capacity Building
-
Support caregivers, Youth House teams and relevant staff in applying child- and youth-centered development approaches.
-
Provide guidance on IDP development and goal setting.
-
Support staff in planning meaningful developmental activities.
-
Build staff capacity in basic M&E concepts, tools and processes.
-
Support teams in data collection, analysis and documentation.
-
Provide guidance on indicators, targets and results.
-
Support teams to interpret and use data for program improvement.
-
Share tools and methodologies related to youth participation, life skills and positive youth development.
-
Contribute to relevant staff training and coaching.
7. Documentation & Reporting :The Specialist will maintain and/or oversee appropriate documentation related to:

IDPs and IDP reviews.
-
Developmental activities.
-
Program implementation.
-
Monitoring indicators.
-
Program outputs and outcomes.
-
Youth participation.
-
Attendance and engagement.
-
Program evaluations and assessments.
-
Children and youth feedback.
-
Lessons learned.
-
Success stories and good practices.
-
The Specialist will prepare regular reports highlighting achievements, progress against targets, challenges, outcomes, trends and recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Youth Development, Sociology, Development Studies, Monitoring & Evaluation, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage.

3–5 years of relevant professional experience working with children, adolescents and/or youth and/or in program development and M&E.
-
Demonstrated experience in youth development and direct work with adolescents.
-
Experience in developing or implementing Individual Development Plans or similar individualized planning tools.
-
Experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, data analysis and reporting.
-
Experience designing and facilitating workshops or youth activities.
-
Experience working with NGOs, alternative care, child protection or development programs is an advantage.

Safeguarding
The Specialist will be required to fully comply with SOS Children's Villages safeguarding policies, Code of Conduct and child protection procedures, maintain professional boundaries, protect confidentiality and immediately report any safeguarding concerns through established mechanisms.
