SOS Children’s Villages Jordan Launches “Healing and Care” Initiative Celebrating the Resilience of Gaza’s Children
Amman, October 17, 2025
Under the patronage of Her Highness Princess Dina Mired, SOS Children’s Villages Jordan held a special event on Wednesday, October 15, to launch the “Healing and Care” initiative, in collaboration with the Ottobock Global Foundation and Mafaz Medical Solutions Center.
The event brought together the German Ambassador to Jordan, the management and board of SOS Children’s Villages Jordan, the CEO of Ottobock, and the President of the Private Hospitals Association, along with key partners, supporters, and representatives from official and media entities.
The “Healing and Care” initiative builds on the Royal Humanitarian Mission led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, which brought injured children from Gaza to Jordan for medical treatment. Through this new effort, SOS Children’s Villages Jordan and its partners aim to provide continued rehabilitation, psychological, and social support for children who have received prosthetic limbs, helping them walk, learn, and play again with confidence and renewed hope.
The event carried a heartfelt spirit of solidarity and compassion, reflecting Jordan’s enduring humanitarian values. It underscored SOS Children’s Villages Jordan’s commitment to accompanying these children on their journey to healing, not only physically, but emotionally and socially.
During the ceremony, Eng. Mustafa AlWishah, Chairman of the Board of SOS Children’s Villages Jordan, emphasized that the initiative embodies the organization’s humanitarian mission to care for children and uphold their rights, saying:
“This initiative continues our duty to surround children with care, safety, and belonging, to remind them that even after hardship, there is always hope.”
In her remarks, Her Highness Princess Dina Mired spoke about the suffering endured by Gaza’s children, saying:
“This reality should never have unfolded. The genocide should have been stopped before it claimed the children’s limbs, their dreams, and their hopes.”
She reaffirmed that our collective human responsibility compels us to continue standing by these children and empowering them to rebuild their lives with strength and dignity.
Mr. Oliver Jacobi, CEO of Ottobock Global Foundation, who traveled from Germany to attend the event, praised the compassion and partnership he witnessed in Jordan:
“Over the past two years, I’ve seen countless images of children in Gaza and felt a deep need to act. Being here today, I realize that true empathy knows no borders. Every step a child takes after receiving a prosthetic limb is a symbol of courage and renewal.”
From his side, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, President of the Private Hospitals Association and CEO of the “Gaza Health Initiative”, highlighted the role played by Jordan’s private hospitals in providing medical and humanitarian care to more than 200 injured and sick Palestinian children from Gaza, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and under the Royal Humanitarian Mission of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
The event also featured Alaa Al-Nady, Egyptian motivational speaker and influencer, who shared his inspiring story of overcoming challenges, saying that sincere effort and faith always lead to good, no matter how difficult the path.
The program included a touching poem by Yara, a child from SOS Children’s Village Amman, welcoming her brothers and sisters from Gaza, followed by a warm moment when the village children led their new friends to a special activity prepared with love by the village team. A short film documenting the “Healing and Care” initiative and the stories of resilience it inspired was also screened.
The event concluded with a visit to the host village homes, followed by a family-style gathering that reflected the essence of SOS Children’s Villages. The team reaffirmed their message:
“To the children of Gaza, from our hearts: we stand with you.”
