About SOS
Stable Family-Based Care for a Secure Future.
Since 1983
Since its establishment in 1983, SOS Children’s Villages Jordan has worked with one clear purpose: to ensure that no child grows alone, and that every child should have a safe, stable, and caring environment.
A National Non-Profit Social Development Association
SOS Children’s Villages Jordan is a national, non-profit social development association, operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Development, the official authority responsible for child protection policies in the Kingdom.
Alternative Care
It provides alternative care for children and young people who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it.

The First SOS Children’s Village in Jordan was established in Amman in 1987.
The first SOS Children’s Village in Jordan was established in Amman in 1987, marking the beginning of a long-term commitment to supporting children without parental care. Since then, SOS Children’s Villages Jordan has steadily expanded its reach across the Kingdom, providing holistic, family-like care and support. A second village was opened in Aqaba in 1991, followed by a third in Irbid in 1999, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of SOS Children’s Villages worldwide.

Provides Integrated Care for Children and Young People in a Family-Like Environment.

Safe Homes Programme
Alongside family-like care and youth care, the Association also implements protection and support programmes that respond to a range of community needs. Through the Safe Homes Programme, women survivors of violence and their children receive safe shelter, as well as psychosocial and legal support that helps them restore stability and begin again.
Care Within the Villages
Through its villages in Amman, Irbid, and Aqaba, the Association provides integrated care for children and young people in a family-like environment, where they live with an alternative caregiver in a warm and supportive home. This care includes accommodation, food security, education, health care, psychosocial support, empowerment, protection, and social inclusion. This is at the heart of the Association’s unique family-like care model in Jordan.
Youth Care and Independent Living
As children grow older, they transition to youth houses for young women and young men, which represent an important step toward independent living. There, they continue to receive psychosocial support, education, career guidance, and life skills development. After the age of 18, young people remain supported through the supervised independent living programme until the age of 24, with access to training, educational opportunities, and professional guidance to help them build successful independent lives.
Family Strengthening Programme
Through the Family Strengthening Programme, the Association works with families facing pressure or hardship by providing positive parenting sessions, economic empowerment support, and social follow-up, helping ensure that children can remain safely in their homes within stable and secure family environments.

Jordan’s Leadership on the Global Stage.
In a milestone that reflects Jordan’s leadership on the global stage, the Association’s National Director, Ms. Rana AlZoubi, was elected in June 2025 as Chair of the General Assembly of SOS Children’s Villages International, which brings together 138 member associations across five continents.
Her election marked a historic first as the first woman to hold this newly established leadership role, underscoring the Association’s strong standing, deep expertise, and Jordan’s growing role in regional and global child protection leadership.
National and International Commitment
The Association operates in full compliance with national child protection laws and in continuous coordination with the Ministry of Social Development, while also aligning with the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care for Children and the Convention on the Rights of the Child issued by the United Nations. The Association integrates the principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within its strategy, ensuring a future-oriented approach that prioritizes the best interests of children and youth in Jordan
