Job Purpose

Job Summary: Education, Activities & Youth Development Lead – SOS Children’s Village Amman

This position aims to lead and develop the education, activities, and youth development system at SOS Children’s Village Amman, ensuring improved educational and developmental outcomes for children and youth and empowering them to succeed and become independent.

The role involves leading integrated educational and developmental programs that help children and youth improve their academic performance, overcome educational and social challenges, develop their skills and talents, and prepare for positive integration and success in society.

 

Main Responsibilities and Duties

First: Leadership and Supervision of the Education Team

  • Lead and manage the team of teachers, caregivers, and staff working in education and academic support.
  • Set the team’s annual goals and plans and follow up on their implementation.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities and regularly monitor performance.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and capacity building for team members.
  • Identify the team’s training needs and work on developing them.
  • Hold regular meetings to follow up on children’s progress and discuss challenges and solutions.
  • Strengthen cooperation and coordination between the education team, social workers, and caregivers.

Second: Management of the Educational Process

  • Regularly monitor the academic achievement of children and youth.
  • Develop and implement an educational strategy that supports the success of children and youth.
  • Maintain continuous coordination with schools, teachers, and school administrations.
  • Follow up on attendance, absence, school behavior, and address educational challenges.
  • Prepare and follow up on individual educational support plans for children when needed.
  • Coordinate the provision of remedial lessons and academic support.
  • Monitor children’s transition between different educational stages.
  • Prepare periodic reports on the educational performance of children and youth.
  • Analyze educational data and use it to improve educational outcomes.

 

Third: Addressing Educational Gaps and Learning Difficulties

  • Conduct periodic assessments to identify educational gaps and achievement levels.
  • Design and implement remedial programs to address academic delays and educational gaps.
  • Follow up with children who experience weak academic achievement or learning difficulties.
  • Coordinate with schools and specialists to conduct the necessary assessments when needed.
  • Develop individual support plans for children with different educational needs.
  • Measure the impact of educational interventions and continuously monitor progress.

 

Fourth: Supporting Mothers and Caregivers

  • Empower mothers and caregivers to effectively follow up on and support children’s education.
  • Provide guidance and advice to mothers on academic support and motivation methods.
  • Organize workshops and awareness sessions for mothers and caregivers.
  • Strengthen the partnership between mothers and schools in the best interest of the child’s education.
  • Follow up on the implementation of children’s educational plans in cooperation with mothers and caregivers.

 

Fifth: Youth Development and Life Skills

  • Design and implement life skills and leadership development programs for youth.
  • Support youth in planning their educational and career paths.
  • Follow up on scholarship opportunities, higher education programs, and vocational training.
  • Organize mentoring, guidance, and personal development programs.
  • Enhance youth readiness for independence and positive integration into society.

Sixth: Management of Activities and Development Programs

  • Prepare and implement the annual plan for educational, cultural, sports, and recreational activities.
  • Organize events, camps, trips, and seasonal activities.
  • Design activities that contribute to developing children’s social and emotional skills.
  • Discover individual talents and abilities and work on developing them.
  • Encourage children and youth to participate in community and national activities.
  • Ensure children’s participation in planning the activities that target them.
  • Coordinate with partners and volunteers to implement quality activities.

 

Seventh: Addressing Social and Behavioral Challenges

  • Contribute to identifying social and behavioral factors that affect children’s learning.
  • Work in coordination with social workers, psychologists, and caregivers to develop integrated support plans.
  • Follow up with children who face behavioral or social challenges that affect their academic performance.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all children.

 

Eighth: Building Partnerships and External Coordination

  • Build cooperative relationships with schools, universities, and educational institutions.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, trainers, and supporting entities.
  • Attract educational opportunities, scholarships, and support programs for children and youth.
  • Represent the Village in activities and meetings related to education and youth development.
  • Develop partnerships that contribute to improving the quality of education and activities provided to children.

 

Ninth: Child Safeguarding and Quality Assurance

  • Comply with the organization’s approved child safeguarding and professional conduct policies.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive educational and activities environment for all children.
  • Report any child safeguarding concerns in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to developing and improving the quality of educational and developmental services provided to children and youth.

Tenth: Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting

  • Prepare annual and operational plans related to education, activities, and youth development.
  • Prepare monthly and periodic reports and submit them to management.
  • Monitor performance indicators and measure the impact of educational and developmental programs.
  • Document achievements, success stories, and best practices.
  • Contribute to preparing reports for programs, projects, and supporting entities.

 

Eleventh: Other Duties

  • Contribute to committees, working groups, and institutional initiatives related to the role.
  • Participate in institutional events and activities organized by the Village or the organization.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities related to the nature of the position as assigned by the direct supervisor, in line with the objectives and programs of SOS Children’s Villages Jordan.

 

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Child Development, or any related field.

A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in education, youth development, or educational program management.

  • Proven experience in supervising and managing educational teams.
  • Experience working with children and youth, preferably with vulnerable groups.
  • Experience in developing educational programs and addressing educational gaps.
  • Experience in learning difficulties or psychosocial support for children is preferred.
