Duty Station: One of SOS Children’s Villages Jordan’s locations in Amman, Irbid, or Aqaba, depending on the vacancy and operational needs.
Job Title: Aunt (Care Provider)
Reports to: Family Care Advisor
Employment Type: Full-time
Nature of Work: This position requires residing and staying overnight in the SOS Children’s Village according to the approved shift system and work schedule, including some weekends, public holidays, and religious holidays as required.
Who We Are
SOS Children’s Villages Jordan is a national non-profit organization established in 1983 to provide alternative care for children and young people who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it.
What distinguishes our care model is the provision of holistic care that addresses the needs of children and young people across areas including care, accommodation, education, skills development, protection, social integration, health, livelihoods, and social and emotional well-being.
The Association is guided by the United Nations Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Its efforts are also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Job Purpose
To contribute to providing a safe and supportive family-like environment for children and young people by providing daily care, supporting their emotional, social, and physical development, and assisting the primary caregiver in maintaining family routines and stability.
The Caregiver also assumes caregiving responsibilities on behalf of the primary caregiver during their leave periods, in accordance with operational needs, while upholding the values of SOS Children’s Villages and child safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care to children and young people and meet their basic needs within a safe and supportive family environment.
- Support the primary caregiver in maintaining family routines and a stable family environment.
- Assume caregiving responsibilities during the primary caregiver’s leave periods, including residing and staying overnight in the Village according to the work schedule and operational needs.
- Support children and young people in their emotional, social, and physical development and contribute to achieving their developmental goals.
- Build positive and safe relationships with children and young people and serve as a positive role model.
- Contribute to creating a home environment based on respect, cooperation, and attention to the individual needs of each child and young person.
- Work closely with other caregivers and the multidisciplinary team to implement care and development plans.
- Participate in relevant meetings, training sessions, and work-related activities.
- Contribute to household chores and daily tasks related to maintaining a suitable family environment for children and young people.
- Comply with child safeguarding policies and procedures and immediately report any concerns related to the safety or well-being of children.
- Be able to work with more than one family or household when required, based on the needs of the Village.
- Perform any other duties relevant to the position as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum high school certificate.
- A qualification or training in childcare, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in a caregiving role.
- Ability to interact with children and young people with patience, empathy, and respect.
- Ability to adapt to different family environments and respond to the diverse needs of children and young people.
- Good communication skills in Arabic.
- Knowledge of English is an added advantage.
- Commitment to child safeguarding principles and the values of SOS Children’s Villages.
- Willingness to work according to the nature of the position, including residing and staying overnight in the Village when required and according to the work schedule.

Recruitment and Selection Process
The recruitment process will include the following stages:
Initial Interview
An interview with the SOS Children’s Villages Jordan team to assess the candidate’s experience, skills, and suitability for the position.
Psychological Interview
An interview with a psychologist to assess the candidate’s readiness and ability to work with children and young people and to manage the requirements of the role.
Training Period
Candidates who successfully pass the selection stages will undergo a three-month training period, during which they will receive a monthly training allowance of JOD 300.
Appointment
Upon successfully completing the training period and meeting the position requirements, the candidate will be appointed at a monthly basic salary of JOD 550, in addition to Social Security, health insurance, and a 13th-month salary, in accordance with the Association’s policies.
